NORTHUMBRIA Police are appealing for information following a drugs bust at a disused Washington office building.

More than 1500 plants were discovered at Merlin House on Windlass Lane in Albany following a tip-off early last Thursday morning.

Police were on site the same day and after extensive investigations, the force had cleared the premises by Sunday, December 13.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson told Washington Way:

“Shortly after 10.40am on Thursday (December 10) we received a report of a suspected cannabis farm found at a premises on Windlass Lane, Washington.

“Officers attended and upon entering the premises they found a significant cannabis operation with more than 1,500 plants at various stages of growth.

“The farm has since been dismantled and the drugs seized. Enquiries are ongoing into the discovery.
