THE taste of Bavaria is heading to Sunderland this autumn – and tickets are already flying out the door.
The city is set to welcome a three-day Oktoberfest from Friday, October 16 until Sunday, October 18 inside a heated marquee at High Street West.
Visitors are encouraged to don Lederhosen and Dirndls to enjoy traditional German-inspired dishes and steins of beer to a backdrop of Bavarian entertainment.
A five-piece Oompah band will be performing a mix of classic German tunes and party favourites throughout the weekend, while a Bavarian-themed DJ will keep the atmosphere alive with energetic sets.

The weekend will be split across several sessions to give visitors plenty of chances to experience the festivities.
The festival opens on Friday October 16 from 6-11pm, followed by two sessions on Saturday 17, at noon-5pm and 6-11pm. The celebrations draw to a close on Sunday 18, with a family-friendly session from noon-4.30pm.
Designed to offer something for everyone, the Sunday session will include games for children, alongside family-friendly competitions and prizes to be won throughout the afternoon.
Tickets for the event are on sale now for every session across the festival – but are selling very quickly so booking now is advised. To book click here
