TWO days of food, drink and entertainment is heading to Chester-le-Street this weekend as Chester-le-EATS celebrates its fifth birthday.
The event will take over Banks Homes Riverside, the home of Durham Cricket, this Saturday and Sunday, September 26 and 27 for a packed weekend of street food, artisan produce, craft drinks, sweet treats, live music and entertainment.
Around 45 traders will be setting up stall on both days, with returning favourites joined by new faces.
Three dedicated food zones will make up the main part of the festival. The Street Food Bazaar will set up on the main concourse, with 12 food trucks and a coffee trailer serving up everything from loaded fries and smash burgers to Mexican, Vietnamese and Sri Lankan cuisine.
Street food favourites include Chicken Ting, Redheads Mac ’N’ Cheese and Spud Gun Loaded Fries and Burgers, alongside Truly Torta, Kolomba, Mr Chipstix, The Loaded Dawg and The Little Poffertje Pancake Shack offering Dutch pancakes.
Market Street, which will also be located outside, features The Sunrise Patisserie and their famous pastel de nata, O’Donnell’s Moonshine, The Dessert Hub – which completely sold out of their cakes and bakes at last year’s event and Just a Littlemore, offering loaded cookies.
The Indoor Eats Emporium, situated inside the Geoff Cook Suite, will feature sweet treats from Kiss My Cupcake, The Hedgehog Bakery and Le Mini Macaron along with craft drinks from Prohibition Distillery, WL Distillery and St Mary’s Spirits.
Alongside the food and drink will be a selection of independent makers and retailers and the weekend is also set to feature a packed programme of music and performances:

The family and dog friendly weekend will also feature a dedicated family zone with fun rides, roaming street entertainment, stilt walkers, the Mirror People, Flower Pot Men and more.
It will run from 11am-5pm each day, with entry into the main festival free.
