SUN SHINES AT WASHINGTON CARNIVAL

LOCAL people young and old headed to Albany Park on Saturday to enjoy the fun at Washington Carnival.

The sun came out and the rain stayed away – and although strong caused a little bit of disruption to some of the stands and attractions, it didn’t stop residents coming out to celebrate the popular annual event.

Deputy Mayor Coun Jannine Morrow officially opened the event as families and groups of friends enjoyed a day of live music and entertainment.

Stalls from local traders and organisations proved popular, children enjoyed face painting and fairground rides and a selection of food vans joined regulars like Washington History Society to give visitors plenty of things to see and do.

The event is held annually and organised by Community Opportunities.
