THE man behind Washington’s first contemporary vintage clothes market is keen to bring it back to the town soon following a successful inaugural event.
Washington born and bred Neale McGeever, the brains behind NE Vintage Takeover, brought the event to the Arts Centre on Friday afternoon.
“It was a great day with a steady stream of people all afternoon and into the evening,” he told Washington Way.
Around 15 local vintage traders were on hand offering a host of vintage clothing across a host of styles and eras, including Y2K fashion, streetwear, sportswear, band T-shirts, designer pieces and up-cycled clothing.
Neale is no stranger to these events, having already run a string of successful and returning markets across the region.
The former St Robert of Newminster Catholic School pupil was keen to bring NE Vintage Takeover to his hometown – and plans are already afoot to return soon. 
“I’m so grateful to all of the people who turned up, it really was better than I could’ve hoped for,” he added.
“To see so many traders and shoppers on the day made all the hard work worthwhile. Here’s to the next one.”
